Title
[D7903X], Letter from George Frederick Barker to Thomas Alva Edison, January 19th, 1879
Editor's Notes
Chatty letter continuing Dec '78 items. Sorry to hear TAE sick; should eat & sleep more; "the laws of physiology are as inflexible as the laws of electricity." Got TAE's telegram that Gramme & Siemens machines received. Internal/external resistance for generator. Should be able to get 1500 candles per HP (with arc light?); if reports of TAE getting just 90-120 per HP are right, it won't pay. Wallace's business hurt by TAE's comments to press and Barker thinks "your reputation is being lessened by the foolishness of the men whom you allow to write you up." Got phono but not (emg) cylinder promised (vol 4 stuff). Wants TAE to come visit & relax.
