Title
[D8049ZDE], Letter from Edward Hibberd Johnson to Thomas Alva Edison, April 5th, 1880
Editor's Notes
Since last letter, question over meaning of clause reserving 5% to co. Do you get priority on next 5% profit or divide with co? Clause giving you reversionary half interest was mistakenly left in new contract & applies to all England instead of London, as intended. This will oblige current stockholders to keep stock permanently, while those of Bell can do as they please. Will be hard to raise needed money unless you waive this right. Cable "mutual concession satisfactory" if you agree to waive this clause if, in return, Co adopts understanding of 5% clause favorable to you. Glad to hear from Batch ELight going well.
