Title
[D8316AFA], Letter from Samuel Insull to Mary Stilwell (Mrs Thomas A.) Edison, July 6th, 1883
Editor's Notes
To Mrs Edison at [Menlo Park] responding to letter regarding Van Cleve, had been trying to get facts: Van Cleve ordered a mason who was working under Swanson, to close up a hole in wall of boiler room, but Swanson told the mason not to do it. Swanson walked away, but VC followed, "knocked him down from the back, hit him and kicked him, and Swanson did not return his blows"; "VC had no right whatever to give any instructions to Swanson's mason"; tale as told to Insull by Hornig; says we should not get involved in their personal quarrels, Swanson intends to push the matter; TAE will be consulled in the morning on the matter
