Title
[D8465V], Letter from A J Lawson to Samuel Insull, April 11th, 1884
Editor's Notes
"Personal and confidential." Wrote a while ago to ask about working for Edison Company but rec'd no reply. Have "since been informed by Mr Byllesby that Mr Edison, while having the fullest confidence in him, had stated to him that all I could do was to go round the country and expend the Company's money in staying at first-class hotels." Want to reassure TAE that I am not profligate and to "state my case". Account of history with company from Paris in 1882 to Canada in 1883. Worked to reduce price of machines by 50%, improved existing stations and "put in with my own hands athe Goldie & McCulloch installation of 115 lights at Galt." Etc., etc.
