Title
[D8546ZBI], Letter from George Black to Erastus Wiman, October 17th, 1885
Editor's Notes
[LETTERHEAD: The Great North Western Telegraph Co. of Canada] Enclosure with foregoing letter to Edison. After scanning a diagram of Edison's phonoplex as installed on a wire from Toronto to Montreal, Black concluded "that it bears a very close resemblance to our Telephonic Telegraph apparatus--had one of my diagrams been used to set the apparatus up it could not have come closer;" claims infringement of Great North Western's patent of 1879; provides detailed analysis of the similarities and differences in the two systems; says "it's possible Mr. Edison has not heard of my arrangements."
