Title
[D8805ADV], Letter from North Carolina. Land and Immigration Bureau, F E McAllister to Thomas Alva Edison, June 25th, 1888
Editor's Notes
"We have the letter from a correspondent in Burke County, N.C. (operating a gold mine there-) who says that parties are now talking, in considerable quantities, from the sands of their placer washings, monazite, which they say is used by Electricians. He writes for information-may I trespass in your time sufficiently long to ask from you whether this mineral is in demand for that purpose, + to what extent. Also what is its market value-" [TAE marginalia: "I never heard of any market for Monazite possibly it is used by the Welsbach Incandescnt gas light Co. Washington, DC"]
