Editor's Notes

"In answer to yours of the 21st would say that for an engine to develop 100 H.P. we would recommend a 16" x 42" with 14' x 25' [unclear] for which our quote price $2400 f.o.b. cars in Orange, N.J. We could have Engine in Orange, we think, in 5 wks but another are liable to be same outlays in the RR we think its safer to [unclear] date of shipments when instead of time of delivery in Orange. We may be able to shorten the time a little. ### Our draughtman is about to say and we can not send you a [unclear] point such as we would like to as we cannot find training for it. We inclose heere print of a 17" x 42' which we trust may answer your present purpose. Will send another in a few days if you wish. A 16" x 42" would a [unclear] the same amt. of spare as a 17" x 42". Can this fellow send the shaft [unclear] of [unclear] length owing to the fate that a [unclear] curse a larger gear more pleased between the [unclear] the [unclear] pillow bench. ### This plan to unite your purposes should have the interediate pedestal on and [unclear] main removed and the [unclear] pillow bench in its place. We can now furnish you and Engine equal in every respect, and superior in [unclear] to the 16" few chance of us before. ### We would be pleased to receive your answer and hope to be favored with your further correspondence in any case." Yours truly, C.H. Brown
