Title

[D8848AEO], Letter from Sherburne Blake Eaton to Samuel Insull, November 5th, 1888

Editor's Notes

"Re Edison and Lippincott. Referring to the agreement of Oct. 30, 1888, between Mr. L., the N.A.P. Co., and Mr. E., extending the time for payment of the Edison notes, etc., you may remember that only one copy of the contract was eexecuted and it was defaced by interlineations. For the sake of accuracy and neatness, I prepared two fresh carbon copies. Mr. Bush has compared them with the above mentioned single copy, and Mr. L. has executed them in his own behalf and that of his Company. They are meant to take the place of the other copies being just like it. ### Please find the said two fresh copies enclosed. Will you kindly have Mr. Edison execute them both, with a witness. Let him sign opposite the small red seal. Please retain the better looking copy of this files, and then return me the other for me to send to Mr. bush. We will then destroy the original agreement, which is now in Mr. Bush's hands. ### You may be interested to know that the Board of Directors of the N.A.P. Co. will meet on Thursday and pass resolutions approving the execution of all the contracts and its endorsement of the Lippincott notes. ### Hoping to receive one copy of the enclosed contract back at your early convenience, I remain" Very truly yours, S.B. Eaton [Marginalia: "An and ajusts 6 to Nov 12/88"]
