[This is an enclosure to D8938ABQ] (Copy) Dear Sir:-- Mr. Roman stated to me that the Pieper Lamp had taken the Grand Prize at the Paris Exposition. Not having this fact mentioned in any of the electrical papers, I cabled Mr. Hammer as follows: "What prize did Pieper lamp take", to which he replied as follows: "Pieper exhibit gold medal."##This indicated that he Pieper Exhibit took a prize which was a Gold Medal and says nothing regarding the Pieper lamp which was part of the exhibit. This is in accordance with Mr. Hammer's letter which only spoke of the lamp as a matter that was not creating great comment in the Exposition. Your truly, Francis r. Upton, General Manager.
