Title

[LB006809], Letter from Charles Lorenzo Clarke to Antoine Breguet, January 17th, 1881

Editor's Notes

I have received your favor of Dec. 10th and a letter dated Dec. 30 is now at hand. I have been, and am sill very busy; and, having had but few hours out of the day for sleep for some timme, have not replied to the first letter, which is deserving of an answer complete and of some length. I ask your indulgene a little longer and will briefly answer now the second. Mr. Edison wishes me to state that he intends to make quite a complete exhibit of his inventions previous to the electric light, and that he will do what lies within his power respecting the exhibition of the latter. If he can exhibit the locomotive and electric railway system he will do so but cannot promise definitely, neither as to teh exhibition of the new one hundered horse-power dynamo-electric machine. I fthe electric locomotive and large duynamo can be exhibited what facilities and room would there be in which to work them to the best advantage? What opportunity could be afforded for illumination by the dynamo and what outside space for a railway for the former? Mr. Edison hopes to do much, but the demand upon his time and energies is already excessive.
