Editor's Notes

Your memo 1st July came to hand this am.##Porter Engines. I think the remaining Engines should certainly be [godded] of if possible##Marions Letter. I do not see what can be done except tell Morton to go ahead & get a Patent & then if we think it worth purchasing we can buy it.##Dyers Bill. I have him write the Specifications because I think it is essential they should be got [out] quickly. I understand that when wilber is in Washington he does very little work for us. Is he not compelled by his contract to give the whole of his time to us. I think if you inquire you will find that he is working for others notably the Postal Telegraphs Coy##Michels & Science. Insull saw Mr Michels last evening & settled an old a/c with him (in) which will probably make him feel good. I used to own Science but I lost a good deal of money in it so gave it up. Michels whenever he runs against Insull [p----] a Stock Coy & he did so again last evening when Insull told him I could not possibly go into it##Professor Drapers Plant was put in without charge.##Chicago Co. I have looked over the list you sent me & am much pleased at it. I want to have a long talk with Stager if he is here after my return from my trip.##I am sorry you do not feel like going with us. we shall have a good time I think & I believe the trip would have done you good.
