Title
[LB016487], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to William H Douty, Edison Electric Illuminating Co (Shamokin), May 28th, 1883
Editor's Notes
I am in receipt of your letter of the 25th inst. and am extremely disappointed to read what you state with reference to the delay in the starting of the work for the Central Station.##I would call your attention to the fact that the contract with me binds you to do the work at such times as not to interfere with, or delay my part of the construction and in case of the failure on the part of your Company so to do, I have the right to call on your Company to reimburse me for extra expense that I may be put to in consequence thereof.##The delay on the part of your Company will very seriously inconvenience me; my orders have been issued for the material to be used at Shamokin and in consequence of said delay I am compelled to carry this material at least a month longer than I otherwise should have done.##I must urge upon you the necessity of hurrying up your part of the work. I have my men in Sunbury and wish them to attend to the Shamokin plant at the same time.
