[re 25 Gramercy Park and health of Mrs Edison] I very much regret to say that owing to the illness of my wife it has become imperative that she should give up housekeeping in accordance with the Doctors instructions. My lease of your house does not expire until the 1st day of October 1884, but I write this letter to ask if we cannot make some arrangement which will relieve me of the necessity of carrying the place for twelve months.##The circumstance is most unfortunate but as Mrs. Edison's health depends upon her immediate retirement removal from all household responsibilities there is no other course for me to persue but to comply with the necessities of the case and ask your very kind cooperation and endeavor to release me from the situation I am now in.##Trusting that you will consider the matter favorably, I am
