##We have a letter dated the 8th. O(f) may from the Compagnie Continentale Edison with relation to certain modifications for these modifications on the assertion that their French patents are invalid. We find their information with relation to this matter to be absolutely incorrect and have accordingly cabled them this morning as follows: ## "Can accept no modification Canada publications made later than asserted. Assertions Maxim's counsel untrue. Details Tuesday's mail." ## The publication which the Compangnie Continentale Edison state took place in Canada on the 17th of November 1879 did not as a matter of fact occur until some days later. We are in communication with our patent attorneys in Canada and immediately we got detailed information from them shall write at length to our Paris friends.
