Title

[LB022030], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Harvey Prentice Dwight, April 19th, 1886

Editor's Notes

I have received instructions from Mr. Edison to reduce our expenses in Canada in connection with the Phonoplex Systems--these having greatly exceeded our original estimates of cost.## I have therefore, in compliance, written to Mr. Pike to the effect that after the 1st of May we will be obliged to dispense with his Services, as our business over here, tho increasing rapidly, is not at present far enough advanced to warrant the employment of assistance beyond what we already have.## Mr Pike's work has been performed in a very efficient manner and we believe him to be fully qualified to install and operate the phono systems as an expert, and as such would be valuable to you in the event of additional circuits being equipped in Cananda.## I write you on Mr. Pike's behalf as you were kind enough to relinquish his services when they were required by us some months ago. Yours faithfully
