Title
[LB027762], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to George Edward Gouraud, January 16th, 1889
Editor's Notes
"I have received your letter of 18th ultime, in regard to proposed presentation, to the Sultan of Turkey. I understand that I am to provide the phonographs, which will be forwarded to you at London; you are to take charge of them from there and send an expert with them to Constantinople, where the presentation would be made; the expenses attendant upon forwarding the phonographs and expert to Constantinople and making the presentation, to be divided equally between yourself and the University of Pennsylvania; the phonographs to be presented in the names of myself, the University of Pennsylvania and Col. George E. Gouraud. This arrangement is entirely satisfactory to me, and when I hear from Prof. Barker, to whom I have written, communicating your proposal, I will write you further regarding the matter." Yours truly, [signed] TAE
