Title
[LB028913], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to William Joseph Hammer, Exhibition. Paris Universal (1889), April 2nd, 1889
Editor's Notes
"I have confirmed elsewhere my cablegram to you of today's date, instructing you to give Col. Gouraud two phonographs for use in connection with his lecture before the French Institute on the 15th of April. I wrote you some time ago, telling you to let Col. Gouraud have any phonographs in your possession. He will only be able to use two of your machines, for the reason that we can only send new spectacles, receivers and transmitters for that number. These go forward on Saturday next, 6th instant, by Contanseau's Express, addressed to Col. Gouraud, c/o Observatoire, Meudon. Contanseau assures me that they will be received at Meuden in ample time. I wish to give Col. Gouraud any assistance which you can in connection with the operation of these improved phonographs, as I believe you are familiar with the new spectacle, receiver and transmitter." Yours very truly, [signed] TAE
