Title
[LB033024], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to W R Wills, October 8th, 1889
Editor's Notes
"Your letter of Oct. [unclear] to hand, enclosing diamond splints. I have given Mr. [unclear] the information in regard to them that you specify in your letter. I have also received by mail the sapphires. At present I see no reason why we cannot use the garnet for the ball. We are making them at present and are going to put them right on to the phonograph, and I will be able to let you know in a short time whether we shall make them permanent or not. In regard to your phonograph battery, I think the cause of the battery playing out so quick is the fact that you have not got those little rubber lugs that I spoke to you about in between the copper plates. I have ordered the phonograph works to-day to send you up two sets of wires, two sets of copper plates, two full charges of soda [unclear], and also four small lugs to go in between the copper plates. I think when you have the small lugs in between the coppers, your battery will work better." Very truly yours, [unsigned]
