Title
[LB034187], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to New York Telegraph Club, George E Holbrook, November 23rd, 1889
Editor's Notes
I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 19th instant, which Mr. Edison has read. He states that he will be very pleased to attend the First Annual Dinner of your Club, but would you prefer that you should not organize this with any particular reference to himself. He would like to attend simply in his capacity as a member of your Club, and asks you to kindly arrange the matter in that way. You, of course, understand his objection to speech making, or rather his inability to make a speech. He says it will give him a great deal of pleasure to meet the members of the Telegraph Club on the occasion in question. Yours very truly, A.O. Tate
