Title

[MBLB3005], Letter from Charles Batchelor to Sherburne Blake Eaton, August 22nd, 1881

Editor's Notes

Thanks for yours of 9th, also various papers, etc. We're behind, but not so far as other exhibitors. Lighting exhibition set to open 27th but we're lit every afternoon from 3 to 7; "Swan has made one miserable attempt and Maxim not at all." Everybody agrees we have a complete system, other exhibitors only have a lamp. Swan's manager frequenly here on some pretext or other "we shall have to lose no time now or these fellows will steal all we have and use it right under our very nose." PS: Of all lamps sent, none were broken except a few in box dropped severely in Havre. All the barrels packed slightly differently from each other but each method seems as good as the others.
