[21 August 1883 letter from Eaton, copied by Batchelor into this book 12 Sept.] Enclosed find copy of my 6 Aug letter to Chas Clarke and his 18 Aug reply, showing cost of reproducing our Pearl St. station. Clarke has prepared estimate with great care in order to give you full and reliable data. Copies of letters and estimate follow as separate records; Eaton asks for estimate incorporating TAE's latest improvements, "notably his improvement in reducing the cost of the dynamos, also in reducing the cost of conductors by means of the 3 wire system."
