carbon loop "marked for showing positoin of faults." Experimental pump with a twisted fall tube (caused cracking). More pump expts, varying diameter of contraction & fall tubes; table of lamp test results indicating number and location of various filament faults. [These continue through Oct 9]. Fr 466 table of # good/defective lamps on pumps, through Oct 12. 469 "lots of lamps as sent up to the laboratory (daily totals through Oct 5); "Lot 1 to consist of 159 lamps of fibres generally not picked but made from the fishing poles we have bought." Lots 1-4. fR 472 Test of 28 different pumps (gives tube & contraction dimensions, lbs Hg per min. Fr 479 more lamp tests with trouble spots indicated by number.
