Title
[N227005], Technical Note, Charles Lorenzo Clarke, October 12th, 1881
Editor's Notes
"Feeders--Energy on." On Oct. 3 tried expt w/ u/g copper tube at Machine Works. Ran current drawn by 800 A lamps: "The tube was not sensibly warmed." Then calculates resistance of one foot of tube, hence energy lost in a foot of tube. Says that losses are equivalent to 56/100 of a lamp per foot of conductor. "The lamps in first district are to be 140 ohms, 10 per h.p. and it is intended to lose 15% on the feeders. 16000 lamps to be supplied. To lose 15% the total equivalent lamps will be..Lost in feeders 2824 lamps." xxx select xxx
