"I expect at some future date I shall have to fight a number of infringers and would like when the time comes if it ever does to have your aid to assist me in maintaining those rights which I may justly claim as belonging to me in regard to Electric Lighting. If this is agreeable to you I will send you a cheque for $200 as a retaining fee."
