Title

[X012F2J], Letter from Chauncey Smith to Thomas Alva Edison, May 5th, 1885

Editor's Notes

Yrs of 1st rcd. Mr. Reid? has nothing to do with orders that I give; he probably didn't know what I told you to do. "If you can make a wheel which will say 'hello' for the sum you suggested ($20 to $30) please do so at once..." If you think it will cost more, let me know how much. Mr. Swan tells me about newspaper report this morning regarding claim of Prof. Bracket [illegible.] TAE marg: "Gilliland: See Vail about this= Smith misunderstands me. I said the cost to Bell Co would be $20 to $30 but it would take a bit lof of my time to get a perfect record to make a wheel by. Smith must have highly developed ideas of the eas & quickness with which this can be done. I wouldnt do it except for the Co for $50. ###Return this letter."
