Title
[X154A7AG], Letter from Uriah Hunt Painter to Edward Hibberd Johnson, January 11th, 1888
Editor's Notes
Yours of Jany 10 at hand. "Shall be glad to see you on Saturday, but I do not agree with you that it is policy at this time for you to have the books ikn New York, where Mr. Cheever or anybody else can have access to them until our status is defined with Mr. Edison, and some p olicy is decided on for the hereafter. ## There are several skeletons in our closet that it is not to the advantage of any stock-holder in the old company to have paraded at this time, and for the non-appearance of them in public places, I am willing to take the responsibility. [EHJ marg: "Yes but am I not compelled by Law to have them? Don't in addition to other complications put me in antagonism to the law."]
