I telegraphed you to Long Branch this am, asking if you had heard from Lippincott & saying that things were in critical shape-- Recd rely from Mrs P that you were in Wash DC or West Chester.##A conference here is very important, as T.A.E. is likely to make trouble, thorough violent anger with you. EHJ & myself--##You ought to come here at once for a full conference with EHJ, Bergmann &c & learn the full sitatuion with view to wise action.##Bergmann is very nervous while this Phono matter is putting other things in such delicate condition you ought to keep [us] advised where you are & you [o]ught to confer [a] little more [frequently?]-- There are 3 [friends] in NY whose convenience is to be considered against your own personal convenience--The party here are all busy-- JCR
