Title

[X154A8AD], Letter from Jesse H Lippincott to Uriah Hunt Painter, January 16th, 1889

Editor's Notes

Your favor of the 15th to hand. In reply to your inquiry "Does E. extend any?" I would say that he has extended his payments so that the last one matures March first, and that I owe him at the present time $108,750. out of $500,000. With the payment to you of $45,000. on Friday, I will then owe you $40,000. on a total of $225,000., so that as near as I can figure honors are about easy with E. and you, so far as the receipt of money is concerned.##I think you for the extension, which I hope and trust will be the last request of that kind I shall have to make of you.##I recognize that in our dealings you have been extremely kind; on the other hand, I do not forget that I made a commodity valuable that you owned, and that at the time I took hold of it, it was of little value and on that score I have been entitled to the leniency with which you have treated me.
