This undated notebook was probably begun prior to April 8, 1879. The entries are by Edison and Francis Upton. Included is a series of notes by Edison on alloys for special composition bars. Other material includes notes by Edison on platinum, coal heat, and chalk buttons; a series of sketches and notes by Edison that appear to be related to the telephone; and drawings by Upton of generators. The book contains 282 numbered pages.
