This notebook was probably begun in September 1879, but the first dated entry is October 18, 1879. The last dated entries are from February 1880. Most of the entries are by Francis Upton. There are also entries by Edison, Samuel D. Mott, and John Kruesi. All of the material relates to electric light and power experiments. Included are notes, drawings, and calculations about generators; notes and calculations relating to tests of sewing machine motors; notes, drawings, and calculations on electric power distribution; and notes on testing wires. The label on the front cover is marked \"Faradic Machines No.3\"" and \""Upton.\"" The book contains 284 numbered pages.
