Description

This notebook is a continuation of N-19-09-09. It was used by Edison during October-November 1919, primarily for electroplating experiments performed with various numbered solutions. Many of the entries refer to nickel and copper plating of flake for use in storage batteries. Also included are notes on disc record manufacture and the electroplating of master record matrices. In addition, there are entries describing experiments on the regeneration of flake from old battery cells, as well as a few experiments with primary batteries. One entry indicates the amount paid by the Ford Motor Co. for two different makes of automobile starter battery. As with preceding books in this series, this notebook offers evidence of the convergence of Edison\'s interests in battery and disc record manufacture resulting from the electrolysis involved at various stages of production. The notes indicate that John McMullen and Frederick P. Ott assisted Edison. Inserted into the book is a communication from Elmer E. Dougherty to Edison regarding disc molds. The front cover is labeled \"No 5 General Book October 6th 1919.\"" The pages are unnumbered. Approximately 80 pages have been used."
