This notebook covers the period August-November 1893. It was used by Joseph W. Harris for notes, tables, and calculations regarding ore milling, ore assays and other chemical analyses, and experiments on lubricants, phonograph cylinders, and the manufacture of parchment paper. Among the ore-related entries is a series of bricking experiments, nos. 1-110, together with cost calculations for each compound; and experiments in the production of cement from tailings of the concentrate at Edison\'s plant in Ogden. Among the phonograph-related material are two pages of notes on the examination of a wax cylinder made by the American Graphophone Co.; and a series of experiments, nos.1-100, on a base for cylinders. The front cover is marked \"Chemical Experiments by J. W. Harris.\"" The pages are unnumbered. Approximately 190 pages have been used."
