Description

This notebook covers the period July 1889-Nebruary 1890. It contains transcriptions by Arthur E. Kennelly of material from the rough record books used by experimenters in the Galvanometer Room. There are notes, drawings, tables, and calculations regarding a variety of electrical experiments, including tests of meters, transformers, induction coils, insulation, and the carrying capacity of various electrical conductors. In addition, there are notes concerning the technical and commercial development of the Niagara hydroelectric power system and tests of motors for the electric railway, phonograph, and sewing machines. Also included are entries pertaining to the electrochemical treatment of arthritic conditions, Kennelly\'s account of an accidental electric shock he received, and theoretical notes about physics, electricity, and mathematics. Among the experimenters whose work appears in this book are F. P. Bergh, E. C. Boynton, Albert B. Herrick, and Theodore Lehmann. At the end of the book is a subject index; it appears at the beginning of the book in the digital edition. The front cover is marked \"II,\"" \""1889-1890,\"" and \""T.\"" The book contains 165 numbered pages. Some pages were removed before the book was paginated. Graphs and other items have been pasted into the book.
