The two dated entries in this pocket notebook are from August and November1912. The book was used by Edison to record ideas about business matters, experiments to be tried, and other tasks to be performed. Many of the items have been crossed out. Included are notes relating to storage batteries and to battery applications such as country house lighting, automobile starters, and miner\'s safety lamps. Also included are entries pertaining to the home projecting kinetoscope, improvements in the kinetophone, phonograph cabinet designs, and the production of disc records. The business-related entries include notes about costs, salaries, personnel issues, and staffing. There are also notes on recording artists and musical pieces. A two-page list of managerial and clerical staff, along and their salaries, appears near the end of the book. A variant version of this list can be found in PN-13-01-04.
Among the numerous Edison employees mentioned in the book are Frank L. Dyer, president of Thomas A. Edison, Inc. (TAE Inc.) and head of the Legal Dept.; Carl H. Wilson, vice president and general manager of TAE Inc.; Edward L. Aiken, assistant superintendent of the Edison Phonograph Works; Harry R. Grimes and Brian H. Philpot of the Disc Record Manufacturing Dept.; and Walter H. Miller, head of the Recording Dept. The pages are unnumbered. Approximately 160 pages have been used.
