Title
[CE89067], Letter from Philip Sidney Dyer to Alfred Ord Tate, March 1st, 1889
Editor's Notes
Your favor of the 9th ult duly received. I enclose you a copy of the extract of the agreement between the Edison Co. Paris and the Continental Swan Co. There has been a decided amalgamation, and I think the Swan element are not wholly satisfied with the way it works. As I undersand it your Co. is much the gainer as now you get royalty on all lamps sold by the Cie Gen des Lamps Incandes as wel as the Cie Con Edion that mans all Swa lamps as well as Edison. They are building a large lamp factory in Ivry near Paris, and expect to turn out lamps about May 1st.##The Cie Gen des lampes Incandes are easier to deal with and the Manager "Simon" is a clear headed business man and the only man in the Paris Cos that I have found who has a broad policy. "Simons" is very friendly to Edison interests altho he represents the Swan element in the new Co. I am always glad to give you any inforamation you may require.
