12 Osborne Terrace, Clapham Road, London, S.W. June 12, 1901 Dear Mr. Edison:- In my letter of the 5th inst I forgot to state that one of my best friends here is Mr. George Carston, Chairman of the Pelkin Syndicate which has a capital of 75 million dollars, and a Director in all of Cecil Rhodes So. African enterprises. He is closely associated with the Rothschilds and all other Continental bankers and his name will command anything in England. He will join [illegible] Bolton in the battery business if you care to dispose of any rights in England, the Continent or So. America as per my previous letter. The publication this week of the details of your Battery has excited great interest here and a very large contract for the London County Council Tramways can be placed if prompt action is taken before contracts are placed for the undergrounds conduit system, which has been adopted. I hope you will give me a chance as Carston and Bolton are the strongest and most respectable people here. If so, kindly cable me "come" to following address, nothing change from last letter as I have moved to summer quarters. In case you cable, I will come to N.Y. prepared to do business on a cash basis. Sincerely yours, W.N. Steward Cable address, Steward 12 Osborne Terrace, London
