Newark N.J., Oct 24th, 1901 Mr. Thomas A. Edison, West Orange, N.J., Dear Sir:- Mr. Weber, the Chairman of our Finance Committee, who presents this letter to you, will explain in detail our plans and intentions. We have organized on a permanent basis and intend to remain in existence indefinitely, but at present our sole object is to further the election of Mr. Franklin Murphy, our Standard Bearer in this Campaign. We have already enrolled over 600 members and among them are a large number of young Democrats who have pledged themselves to vote for the Republican Candidate. We have organized five different clubs under the general head of the Franklin Murphy Young Voters League and intend to still further increase the number of Clubs. We have exhausted our funds and therefore appeal to you for assistance in the matter of replenishing our treasury. Some of your friends, like Vice-Chancellor Pitney, Mr. Wm. A. Halsey, and several other who I might name, have helped us and your name has been suggested as one who is deeply interested in Republican success. I trust you see fit to respond to our appeal. Yours, Robert J. Bradley
