Dear Sir:
I beg to advise you that I have this [stay?] [illegible text] from Mr. W. L. Edison as follows: "My Dear John: [illegible text] the letter addressed to you I [illegible text] that I made a mistake in [illegible text]. The following is a correct amount of money owed to Mr. Gilmore [illegible text]
8 Months went of Boat--$50.00 per month---------$400.00
To One Boat lost________________________________30.00
To Broken Windows [illegible text]_____________________25.00
Am't Deducted-[$30.80?]. [illegible text] - - [$80.00?] per month - - - - - - 100.00
Balance Due - - - - - $575.00
As for the amount [illegible overstruck text] for [illegible text] him for taking the [open?] N. Y. I have already explained to you that I will not hold myself liable under any condition.
