Title
[D7838ZAC], Letter from Henry W Spang to Thomas Alva Edison, March 14th, 1878
Editor's Notes
Likely they will need a number of telephones for different purposes along the Philadelphi and Reading RR line -- Bell and Phelps transmitters will not answer for purpose required as the sound of their receivers is too weak to overcome the movement of train and noise of telegraph sounders -- tested TAE transmitter at Bradley's yesterday and thought it quite an improvement -- as soon as made necessary improvements in it and receiver would like TAE to send him two pair for testing -- P.S. has his rail system of signalling in practical operation and it works well on this road -- as soon as business revives will arrange for its introduction on other lines -- sends TAE a circular of his on lightning protection (this is in the library) -- as TAE is "boss electrician" has placed his testimonial at the head
