Title
[D7941ZKE], Letter from Edward Hibberd Johnson to Thomas Alva Edison, December 23rd, 1879
Editor's Notes
Tel Co board to request TAE's presence. Disclaimer perfected and filed. Getting hearing b4 Atty General is "weak point;" opponents will try to delay; importing TAE is sole justification for demanding prompt hearing. Bell Co concede that if disclaimer allowed, pat would cover all carbon microphones. Expect PO to have "ripe and ready witnesses against" us. Thomson bound to Bell; Tyndall "shy" because "we are not popular with the scientists." Must have disclaimer to force Bell Co. but chances are "slim;" can be disallowed if damaging to existing large interests. Only your English capitalists stand firm; come help. Write letter of intro to friendly English & Continental scientists
