- Favorable transportation for cane near Apalachicola River. Fever rampant; taking "heavy doses of quinine night & morning & it has left me afraid." State land commissioner reports no cane in S Fla. Locals credit TAE with arc light. How about using wood made elastic by alcohol steam? Describes firing boilers with green sawdust. Will ask experienced W. Indies traveler to write MP.
