- Looking for bamboo in SF; no success. Saw "Columbia" which just docked here. One light running 800 hrs but about half burned out. Captain anxious for more because so many people visiting ship. "Columbia" headlight run by Maxim machine. Several Brush installations in SF including one at this hotel ("Palace"); manager not satisfied, would like to try Edison system. Shipping from far East stops in winter and the Japanese are "tricky;" best to find another supply of bamboo.
