Title
[D8020ZJB], Letter from Egisto Paolo Fabbri to Thomas Alva Edison, November 23rd, 1880
Editor's Notes
"What is the matter, friend Edison? Are your scientific friends deserting you following such paltry `Maxims'- Is it not unworthy of them, or is there good cause?" Refers to enclosed Evening Post clipping quoting Barker: "There is no doubt in my mind or in that of Professors Morton and Draper as to the value of Mr. Maxim's remarkable discovery. For years I have been an admirer of Edison's search for the true solution of the electric light problem.....But another man found it. ....he has invented a lamp which surpasses, I believe, Edison's dreams." Reports experiments on Maxim light by Draper, Morton & Barker. One lamp equalled 40 gaas jets; 24 hours. "Edison has a good generator, but his lamp was old twenty years ago. The hydro-carbon atmosphere of Maxim's lamp is new."
