Title
[D8048ZAE], Letter from Joshua Franklin Bailey to Thomas Alva Edison, February 25th, 1880
Editor's Notes
Saw Banker several days after arrival. Told him him that judicial liquidation (bankruptcy declaration) bad idea; would ruin telephone in Europe. Must pay off special partners; tried to interest him in buying out some of them but he declined. He wanted me to cable you that heavy losses inevitable. Stormy interview about Russian teleph business. I don't understand your intentions in Europe if Banker represents them; he seems to be here to wipe me out. Offers to establish exchanges in Naples, Brussels, etc.
