Title

[D8049ZAD2], Legal Testimony, William Thomson (Lord Kelvin), January 20th, 1880

Editor's Notes

Thomson affidavit. In "exceedingly general" definition of telegraph for Ency Brit, "I did not in any way contemplate including such an instrument as the Bell or the Edison Telephone and in my judgment neither of these instruments can be correctly included in the term "Telegraph." Inconceivable that these novel instruments fall under BPO's legislated monopology. Reiss musical toy not a telephone. Stokes affidavit follows, fr 384. Telephone is novel apparatus, not a form of telegraph.
