- handwritten. "Telegram 17th rec'd. Mch 1st was taken with typhoid pneumonia and threatened with congestion of brain caused by [?bone] exposure and [?overwork]. Have been desperately sick but am coming out sound as a dollar and shall soon be ready for work. Intend going to mountains soon as able but can go to New York to see you first if desired. Drop me a line if anything to my advantage there."
