Title
[D8135ZBL], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Charles Batchelor, September 8th, 1881
Editor's Notes
Re big dynamo: commutator brushes spark when 600 lamps switched in. Increased current and that seemed to work. Describes treating commutator brushes with nitric acid then mercury. Advises him not to run with more than 500-600 full lights or equivalent in half lights; also watch for shorts in the chandeliers. Re EMF: "There has been some very bad miscalculations in connection with this machine all they way thorugh." poss select: lots of tech detail wrt dynamos and lamps; problem is it's a typed transcript of an illegible script copy. dh 3oct02
