- Editor's Notes
- This morning's NY Times, "referring to the fire and explosion yesterday morning in the Pearl Street store at 243 Pearl St., states that two of our men were engaged at the time in running wires in the cellar. It was a very bad fire, and the loss of life makes it all the worse. Inorder that we may be prepared for any claim against us which may possibly be made, I immediately dispatched Meadowcroft to hunt up the men who were running the wires to get a written statement from them covering the exact facts in the case. I propose to investigate the matter thoroughly without a moment's delay." recommend select: safety issues; annotate w/ NYT story on this as well as stuff abt insurance underwriters dh 10oct02
