- Annual report of EELC. In last year capital increased by 50% from $480-720K. Pearl St. Sta started on Sept. 4; using 6 steam dynamos but only one run at a time, "owing to certain engineering difficulties touching the regulation of the engines. Aside from this trouble, no obstacles have arisen." Says regulation problem has now been solved. Lighting up the First District has been "an entire success." Villard has withdrawn from his arrangement with Edison Electric Railway; but road built and run experimentally since last spring. New company formed to exploit Isolated buisness. Came to an agreement with Gramme company. Has licensed Western Edison Co. to operate plants in IL, IA, WI. Also arrangements for company in Chile. Other US municipal franchises. But warns of "haste in disposing of either large areas of territory or of licenses for single cities and towns..until the first district shall have been successfully installed and put in operation." recommend select; it's long but covers a lot of ground. dh 22oct02
