Lawrence engines. Trenton Iron Co. Hoskins putting in special effort to get orders from people in his district that work all night; there's many and expects 2-3 orders. Insurance rules in Boston. Dean wants 2 of 6 Porter engines belonging to Ill. Co.; Eaton told Clarke this Am to let him have them. Porter also confessed yesterday to Clarke that cylinders in the 6 engines delivered so far are imperfect and he wld build new ones and install them at his own expense. He has already admitted that the governors are imperfect. [are these real problems, or is Porter a perfectionist?] Shaw & Detwiler had mtg of their applicants for a license for Baltimore. Moses has decided to build an arc light at his own expense. Clarence Sterling wants financial support or his lectures on electricity wh he will give throughout the country. Got contract to light Philadelhia Record, despite that owners are friends of Maxim Co.
